PRAISE BREAK!

< Go Back to Commander Kellie's Corner

STOP! HOLD ON! It’s time to take a PRAISE BREAK!

That’s what I heard the Lord say today, Superkid. So right now, before you go any further, stop reading and do it. I’ll wait for you. Actually, I need to do it myself. I’ll be right back.

Oh, that was needed!

Superkid, I am not just writing about this. I am praising and worshiping the Lord, in the middle of my day, in the middle of my work, in the middle of writing to you! Do you know why Jesus wants us to stop to praise and to worship? It’s not because He has a big ego and needs to be worshipped. Let’s dig into this thought a little bit.

Worship. It sounds so one-sided, doesn’t it? We pour out our worship and God, who is so big and awesome, just sits on His throne in heaven and receives it. As lowly humans, we should worship Him because it’s our duty. Does this sound like truth to you? Yes, He is BIG. And yes, we should worship Him. But even though it is our duty, He doesn’t want that to be our reason. Besides, God doesn’t think of us as lowly, but as equal to Jesus! So, why does He want us to worship? Because He wants to be in OUR presence!

When we worship Him, we enter into His Presence and He enters ours. Even though it sounds one-sided, it is really the Father, Jesus and YOU, spending time together. Superkid, don’t get confused. I am not talking about when you get saved and He comes to live in your heart. If you have asked Jesus into your heart, He will never leave you. No, I’m talking about an amazing awareness that He is right there with you—not just in your heart, but all around you.

I love what Psalm 89:15, The Passion Translation, says: “O Lord, how blessed are the people who experience the shout of worship, for they walk in the radiance of your presence.” When you become a worshipper, you will easily begin to talk to Him more, think about Him more and hear His voice more clearly. It’s amazing to walk and talk with Him. Sometimes it does make me want to shout!

I know you want this in your life, Superkid, but the cool thing is, He wants it even more than you do! That can be hard to grasp, but just take it by faith. In fact, say it out loud right now. Say “God, the Father of the universe, and Jesus, the Son of God, want to hang out with me.” Say it three times with boldness, and don’t stop until you CAN say it with a bold belief that it is true!

Try to think of something we give God in our worship or that He needs from us. What does our worship do for Him or bring to Him? Nothing, right? Wrong! There is something, just one something, and it’s all He wants from you. What is it, you wonder? It’s YOU! When you worship, you bring yourself as you are, fully trusting in Him as your Shepherd. This is why worship is so powerful. It places Him fully in charge of you and your life. And you know where that will lead you? To be like Him, your Shepherd.

Hebrews 10:22, New Living Translation, says it this way: “Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.” I love that! Let’s go right in! Then what? Read 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NLT): “For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”

The truth is this, Superkid: When you become a worshipper, it’s like a blindfold comes off and you begin to see Jesus. There is no better truth I could offer you and no better use of your time right this minute so…

PRAISE BREAK! Excuse me, Superkid, I’ve got to go! Praise HIM! ♥
