Superkid, Jesus has a great gift for you.
It’s the gift of PEACE! It’s the kind of peace the world cannot give or take away. It’s a peace that does not come from everything being quiet or perfect. It comes from Jesus Himself.
The moment Jesus rose from the dead, that peace became ours—forever!
The Bible tells us that with peace, Jesus calmed storms. But that peace wasn’t just for the disciples long ago, and it isn’t just for storms around us. Jesus came to calm the storms inside us today. This peace is His victory gift to you! His presence in you and the life He wants to flow through you was made for your everyday concerns and worries.
Jesus does not only bring peace, He IS peace. When you behold Him, trust Him and yield to Him, His peace becomes the atmosphere you carry with you.
Galatians 5:22–23, The Passion Translation, says: “The fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues.… Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.” That word expressions means something that comes out of you and shows what is inside. Peace is one of the ways God’s love shows up in your life. It grows naturally when you are infused with Jesus and yielded to His Spirit.
Peace isn’t fragile, it’s victorious. It’s not just quiet or calm, it’s wholeness and strength that comes from Jesus. It’s His presence filling your heart so nothing can shake you.
Peace In the Boat
Remember the storm in Mark 4:35-41? The disciples were terrified while waves crashed around them. They forgot that Jesus was in the boat with them! He had already said, “We’re going to the other side.” His Word guaranteed their safety, but fear made them forget. When they woke Him, Jesus spoke directly to the storm and said, “Peace, be still,” and it obeyed. His peace was in the boat that day because He was in the boat. Now His peace is in YOU. You’re like that boat, carrying the Prince of Peace everywhere you go.
Peace That Walks on Water
Later in Jesus’ ministry, there was another storm (Matthew 14:22-33). This time, Jesus wasn’t IN the boat. Instead, the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water! Again, they were probably afraid, but by then, Peter had spent time with Jesus. He had seen miracles, heard His words, and learned His faithfulness. Peter trusted Him so much that he stepped out of the boat and did the impossible—he walked on water! How could he do this? Peter kept his eyes on Jesus. As long as he looked at Jesus, Peter was infused with courage, peace and a supernatural ability to walk on the water! When he looked away, fear filled the place where peace had been and it sank him. But even in that place of failure, Jesus raised him up! What a picture of resurrection power and infused life. When you behold Jesus, you become more like Him.
Never forget, Superkids, that even when you aren’t perfect in following Jesus, you can do the impossible and you will learn you can trust Jesus. Obedience in the middle of peace brings great adventures! Nothing is impossible with God and nothing is impossible for those who believe (Mark 9:23). To believe means to trust Jesus with your whole heart, to know He is faithful to do what He says, and to live like He is really there to see you through.
How do you stay filled with peace? Spend time with Jesus and as you talk and listen to Him, His words bring peace. When you read His Word, peace comes. In John 3:29, John the Baptist said something we can all be: “I am the friend…who stands nearby and listens with great joy to (His) voice. Because of His words, my joy is complete and overflows!” You can see here how joy comes, and peace comes the same way: by staying close to Jesus. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you” (New Living Translation).
The more you keep your eyes (and ears!) on Jesus, the more His peace fills your heart. And when His peace fills you, it spills out in your words, your choices and your attitude.
So, I’ll leave you with HIS words to kick-start your peace today.
In John 14:27, Jesus said, “I leave the gift of peace with you. My peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but My perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts, instead be courageous.”
Not Peace OUT, but Peace IN, Superkid.
