Merry Christmas, Superkids!

< Go Back to Commander Kellie's Corner

Merry Christ-mas really means Merry Jesus-Celebration! I have loved this very intentional year of Jesus-celebrating we’ve experienced in 2018. It was just last December we determined to unwrap the Best Christmas Gift—Jesus.

Thank You, Father God, for sending Jesus just for us! Unwrapping Him this past year has brought us so much focus, understanding and purpose. He continues to fill us with His love, which empowers our life and our faith. Philippians 2:1, The Passion Translation, says it like this: “Look at how much encouragement you’ve found in your relationship with the Anointed One! You are filled to overflowing with his comforting love. You have experienced a deepening friendship with the Holy Spirit and have felt his tender affection and mercy.”

Doesn’t that describe this Love Journey we’ve been on? Jesus is so wonderful, He should be celebrated EVERY DAY! I can’t imagine my daily life without Him and I know you can’t either. Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving, so we know there is much more that He wants to show us in our friendship with Him. Friendship with Jesus is a two-way street, a two-way transaction. You don’t go anywhere without Him!

What’s a Christmas party between friends without a gift exchange? Last year we opened a gift—this year, it’s our turn to GIVE a gift.

What in the world do you give the King of Everything?

Remember the Christmas song, “The Little Drummer Boy”? He doesn’t have anything to give the baby Jesus except his song. That “pa-rum-pum-pum-pum” of his drum represents our life, our very heartbeat. Superkid, with every beat our lives belong to Him, life at home, at school, at play. Our enemy, Satan, would be happy if we gave our lives to Jesus a few hours a week at church. Without a purposeful decision to belong to Jesus 24/7 and with every “pa-rum-pum-pum-pum,” it is too easy to limit His time with us to Sunday morning and maybe a bedtime prayer.

Jesus wants so much more time and relationship with us. He desires that real friendship. Your life is a gift that only you can give. That is why it is so very special to Jesus. Though your parents, teachers, pastors or commander can lead and help you make the choice to give Jesus your whole life, even we can’t make that decision for you.

So, may I lead you to this place of choice with a few questions?

  • Can you trust Jesus with your life?
  • Have you found Him to be faithful?
  • Did He give up EVERYTHING for you?
  • Can you live a better, happier life with Him in charge?
  • Does He deserve ALL of you—every breath, every “pa-rum-pum-pum-pum”?

Yes? Then let’s do what Romans 12:1, The Messsage, says, “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.”

Superkid, this IS the best thing you can do for Jesus AND for you. It is the right response to the wonderful gift of Jesus. Our life for His life. He chose us. We choose Him.

Let’s give this gift together by saying this out loud. And make it personal!

“This is my gift to You, Jesus. I give You ME! My life, my thoughts, 24/7, every beat of my heart, my skill, my talent, my good and my bad, my strengths and my weaknesses, I give to You now. My gift will be just as daily as Yours is, Jesus. If I begin to hold anything back from You, please show me and I will give it back.”

Merry Christmas, Jesus!

I promise, He took that gift and He treasures you! It’s a funny thing about giving yourself to Jesus. He will give you back a better you!

So, Merry Christmas to YOU, Superkid. I think this is going to be our best year yet!

“pa-rum-pum-pum-pum” ♥
