LET’S GO!

< Go Back to Commander Kellie's Corner

Get ready, Superkids! I want to talk to you about the Savior who is in you…the One who makes you a SUPERkid!

Last time we met, we talked about the Jesus in you. You are more than a follower of Jesus, you are FILLED WITH JESUS. He is the SUPER part of SUPERkid!

This month, He wants to load you up with more understanding of The SUPER SAVIOR in you. So, let’s start with SUPER. The word super means “extreme, more than the norm, higher levels of a particular quality or substance.” So, who is that particular substance? You know it by now, so say His Name out loud (just for fun and because it freaks the devil out and makes him run)! JESUS!

Superkid, you are in fact a Super-JESUS-filled kid. This is huge. This is a game changer. Change the game how? To win, every time! OK. We were excited and then I lost some of you, didn’t I? So, let’s talk about that. First John 3:8, New Living Translation, says, “The Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.” We all know this is true, so why does it seem like we don’t win the fight every time?

I’m glad you asked! It’s really pretty simple: You have a part to play in the victory too, but it may not be the part you’ve been trying to play. Many times, we can take on the pressure of PERFORMING the miracle, making our prayer happen, or destroying sin in our lives by working hard. Breathe deeply and let out a BIG sigh of relief, Superkid. This is NOT our job! It sounds funny, but too often, we act like this is OUR job, but it isn’t! The biggest problem when we try to do Jesus’ job, is that we cannot do ours!

I told you it was simple, and it is. Our job is just ONE THING…TO BELIEVE IN HIM—Him, the healer; Him, the miracle worker. Look what Jesus said to the crowds who looked for Him in John 6:26-28, (NLT): “Jesus replied, ‘I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs. But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.’ They replied, ‘We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?’”

They wanted all kinds of things FROM Jesus, but they weren’t looking to BE WITH Him. They got up that morning and thought, Jesus fed us yesterday! We’re hungry! We’ll get Him to feed us again! Then as soon as they found Him, they decided they wanted more than breakfast. “Oh, Jesus, doing miracles looks fun! Wouldn’t people be impressed with me if I could do miracles too!”

Now they want to do the miracles themselves! It sounds terrible to admit this out loud but when we try to do Jesus’ part, it’s like saying, “Thanks anyway, Jesus, if You’ll just show me how You did that miracle, I’ll take it from here. I don’t need You anymore.”

Superkid, I know that you don’t feel that way, but that is the lie the enemy wants to plant in our hearts.

Here is the truth: Jesus IS our Savior. He heals, keeps, feeds, leads and provides for us. All we have to do is one thing. BELIEVE. I love His response to them that day. “Jesus told them, ‘This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent’” (verse 29, NLT).

They didn’t get it. He tried to tell them HE WAS the bread, and to look to Him for everything. All they could think of was, “Oh yeah, we are hungry! Give us that bread every day.”

To that, “Jesus replied, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But you haven’t believed in me even though you have seen me. However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day’” (NLT, verses 35-40).

He says that phrase three times in this chapter. Who could He have meant? Who is He going to raise up? He tells them in verses 44-45: “For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up. As it is written in the Scriptures, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me” (NLT).

Superkid, Jesus is quoting Isaiah 54:13 and He is talking about YOU! “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children” (New King James Version).

He is raising you up to believe completely in Him! NOW is the day, Superkid! NOW is the time to do your part—time to BELIEVE, time to partner with Jesus. I’ll say it in superhero terms: It’s time to be the best superhero sidekick ever! Like Batman’s Robin or Superman’s Lois Lane, only way better. Better because this is not pretend—it’s real life with our REAL JESUS. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells His sidekicks, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (NLT).

This is how you WIN. Jesus is the Savior and you are His sidekick! Look, when He is telling you to GO, He’s really saying, “LET’S GO.” He doesn’t want to do this mission without you. So Super-Jesus-filled kids, let’s go heal. Let’s go love. Let’s undo the works of the enemy with Jesus! Let’s GO, GO, GO! ♥
